About me

Carlo Bizio, Translator

I was born and raised in Rome, Italy. I moved to California in 1988 when I began writing as a correspondent from Los Angeles for Italian publications, as well as the European and Latin American markets.

I started translating into Italian from the English and Spanish languages in 2005.

I've been translating all types of certificates for the General Consulate of Italy in Los Angeles since 2010. I'm one of the Consulate's official and authorized translators.

I also translate for the film industry (scripts and subtitles), books, and legal, business documents of any kind.

I provide translations into Italian for citizenship applications or any other kind of requests (Visas, passports, various registrations), to be filed with the Italian Consulate in Los Angeles.

Here is an overview and explanation of my services:

PRICING

I charge $20 per birth certificate, $30 per marriage, death certificates, and amendment of a record (if any). Old and partially handwritten documents are $30 each and/or per page.

Divorce decree forms are $30 each page.

FBI criminal record/background checks are $30 per document and/or page.

These simple and practical flat fees are based on a 7 cent-per-word rate approx – FYI, the industry average rate for translations is 18 cent-per-word.

Apostilles – according to the Italian Consulate guidelines - do NOT need translation.

THE PROCESS:

Everything will be done online: I just need scanned copies of your documents at my email (see below) possibly all combined together in a single PDF file. I'll provide you with an exact quote once I see the entire documentation (and possibly offer a round up discount).

I will turnaround translations quite fast (3 to 5 days).

You'll just have to print my translations, and take them to Italian Consulate in Los Angeles at the time of your appointment, each translation clipped (NOT stapled) to the original certificate.

I will include my "Attestato di Traduzione" (Certification of Translation), carrying my signature, which you will present to the Consulate to prove and certify I did the translations for you.

The Consulate's officers will stamp/notarize my translations for you at once, free of charge.

PAYMENT METHODS:

Payment upon receipt of work, please, with Zelle, Venmo or PayPal (I will send you payment info at due time). Credit cards are also accepted upon specific request: I'll email you an electronic invoice which will allow you to do so – however, in this case 10% will be added to the total amount for cc processing fees.

DISCLOSURES

Privacy and confidentiality absolutely guaranteed.

I've been translating for the Consulate since 2010, with a perfect record of accuracy.

I also translate into Italian from Spanish and Portuguese.

My translations are stamped/certified by the Italian Consulate in Los Angeles. Other Italian Consulates in the U.S. may certify my translations (I suggest you ask first).
